Dwntown Kiwanis meeting of September 9th

Izayah Fannin was our guest today
The agenda for today was followed after introductions
1. The bowling team took 2 points this week
2. Members are reminded to collect shoes for our shoe drive
3. Next week we will be meeting at MCCC at 11:30 for Leaving a Legacy presentation. It will include lunch at the La Z Boy Atrium
4. Volunteers are needed at the River Raisin Battlefield on September September 17th for installing Flags to honor Veterans and MIA
5. Gene Jenkins gave a report on the Bus Races at Flat Rock Speedway last Saturday night. Any future events will need more volunteers
6. The Induction Ceremony will be September 30th at Carrington Golf Course. Members are asked to sign up on the sheet going around at the meeting or on the email sent out to all members earlier this week
7. The next Board meeting is September 15th at noon
8. Ads need to be sold for the Kiwanis Newsmagazine and turned in ASAP. We also need articles and pictures for the publication
9. Volunteers are needed again this year for the Stepping Stones program. A schedule was passed out to members today
10. We are still collecting ink cartridges and pop tabs
For our speakers today we had Floriene Mentel and Pastor Heather Boone from Oaks of Righteousness Christian Ministries. Pastor Boone spoke on the Warming Center. They have housed over 300 people in the last couple of years at the center. Recently they have given out between 250-300 lunches on a daily basis. They are in need of clothes,blankets and money to continue to provide for the Community.
